Award winning photographer, Garrett Yamasaki, examines the meeting point between dream state and consciousness. His work suggests an influence of Eastern philosophy, religion, and art. In his most current collection, "Meditative States", concepts of photographing the traditional western landscape have been left and the creation of ethereal meditative imagery have emerged. Selective focus of lush foliage and hints of Indonesian artifact offer the viewer moments of quiet resolve with nature and allow for the reflection and solitude absent from modern culture. Yamasaki uses these elements metaphorically as a means to communicate the human need to re-connect with the natural environment and self.
